Why blog, you ask?

I, Skarbs, HIKED the 3 highest peaks in Africa in January of 2012, all to raise money for the 3 "peak issues" in East Africa: Education, Health, and Environment. East Africa is a place close to my heart. I know the difference that love, belief, and understanding can make in this beautiful part of the world. Join with me as I REFLECT back on this amazing journey!

Travel Day (and a half)

Tomorrow morning will begin my long journey over to Kenya.
18 Hours on a plane...fun times.
Charlotte to Detroit
Detroit to Amsterdam
Amsterdam to Nairobi

First flight out of Charlotte is at 11:20am Monday, and I arrive in Nairobi, Kenya at 8:40pm Tuesday.  I am prepared with lots of snacks, books, earplugs, and a desire to sleep on the plane.  In Amsterdam I will meet up with fellow climber Janine from Flagstaff, so it will be fun to know someone going on that last leg, and to have a friend to go through Kenyan customs/visa office with! The whole group arrives in late on Tuesday night, so Wednesday morning will be a fun breakfast where we all get to know each other.  We all have only really seen pictures and heard voices on the other end of a conference call, so it will be great to meet my traveling companions face to face!  Hopefully we all like each other because we'll be spending a lot of time together in tight quarters. :)

SEE YOU IN FEBRUARY AMERICA!
