Why blog, you ask?

I, Skarbs, HIKED the 3 highest peaks in Africa in January of 2012, all to raise money for the 3 "peak issues" in East Africa: Education, Health, and Environment. East Africa is a place close to my heart. I know the difference that love, belief, and understanding can make in this beautiful part of the world. Join with me as I REFLECT back on this amazing journey!

1st visit to St. Judes!

I'll preface this post by saying that I've been the School of St. Jude before, and it's through the school that I learned about 3 Peaks 3 Weeks.  I sponsor a student at the school, and my family has a very close relationship with it.  I was absolutely amazed by how much the school has GROWN since I visited in 2008.  There were many more students, and more buildings on both the Smith Campus and Moshono Campus.  While the school is growing, they remain committed to their mission of "Fighting Poverty Through Education"

Smith Campus

Of course, a picture in a soccer goal.

Me and my tour guide for the day, Christina.  I drew a Tanzanian Flag, while she had the much harder challenge of coloring an American flag!

Writing my name.  At St. Judes, I am known as "Katherine Smith", my mom's maden name.
